Tips & Aftercare
Prep and aftercare from the Bronzed Goddess team
How to prepare for your appointment, and how to look after the results, so you get the most from every treatment.
Spray tans
Your tan sits on the top layer of skin, so it lasts as long as those skin cells do. Good prep and aftercare are the difference between a tan that fades evenly and one that patches.
Most tans last 7 to 10 daysThe day before
-
Exfoliate all over, paying extra attention to knees, elbows, ankles and any old tan.

- Finish any hair removal at least 24 hours before your tan.
- Book nails and facials before your tan, not after.
On the day
- Shower in the morning so your skin is clean.
- Skip moisturiser, deodorant, perfume and makeup. If you're coming from work, ask us for a wipe.
- Wear loose, dark clothing and open-toed shoes so nothing rubs your tan.
- Bring a hair tie. We always have spares if you forget.
Until your first rinse
- Stay dry and avoid sweating until your rinse time, or the tan can streak.
- Try not to touch your skin, as it can leave lighter or darker marks.
- Hold off on deodorant and lotions, which can stop the tan developing.
Your first rinse
- Use lukewarm water and no soap. Rinse gently until the water runs clear.
- Pat yourself dry. Rubbing is a light exfoliation and shortens your tan's life.
Making it last
-
Moisturise every day, morning and night if your skin is dry. Use a tan-free moisturiser so you hydrate without adding colour.

Wash with a gentle, tan-friendly body wash. Harsh soaps strip your tan faster.

- Avoid exfoliating and shaving where you can, as both lift the tan.
- Pools and the sea are fine in moderation, but chlorine and salt water shorten your tan.
- Drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated.
-
Top up with a tan extender or tanning butter between appointments to keep your glow going.

Waxing
Waxing removes hair from the root for smoother results that last longer than shaving. It can be a little uncomfortable, especially in sensitive areas, but we'll make it as quick and comfortable as possible.
Rebook every 3 to 4 weeksBefore your wax
- Let your hair grow to about 5 mm, roughly two to three weeks of growth, so the wax can grip it.
- Exfoliate gently a few times a week to reduce ingrown hairs.
- Moisturise regularly, but not on the day of your wax.
- Stop retinols, acids and exfoliating treatments on the area 48 hours before.
- Avoid sunburn on the area.
- Have a warm shower on the day, and wear loose clothing to your appointment.
After your wax
- No exfoliating for 48 hours. Waxing already exfoliates, and more can irritate the skin.
- Avoid heat and sweat for 24 to 48 hours: gyms, saunas and hot showers. Stick to lukewarm water.
- Skip pools and the sea for 24 to 48 hours.
- Try not to touch the area, so bacteria can't get into open pores.
- For redness, aloe vera helps. Ask a pharmacist if you'd like something stronger.
- Use an ingrown hair serum to help stop ingrowns forming.
Lash extensions
Lash extensions add length and volume to your natural lashes, customised to suit your eye shape and style. There's not much to do beforehand: just come as you are and relax.
Infills every 2 to 3 weeksBefore your appointment
- Come without eye makeup.
- Avoid oil-based products around your eyes for 24 hours, as oil breaks down the lash adhesive.
- Bring your glasses if you wear contacts. You'll need to take them out, as your eyes are closed for the whole treatment.
- Use the bathroom first. You'll be lying down for an hour or more.
- Pregnant? Let us know when you book so we can keep you comfortable lying on your back.
Aftercare
- Keep your lashes dry for the first 24 hours while the bond sets.
- Avoid oil-based products around your eyes.
- Skip mascara and lash curlers, which can damage the extensions and your natural lashes.
- Brush and cleanse your lashes daily to keep them clean and neat.
- Don't pick or pull at your lashes.
- Sleep on your back or side so your pillow doesn't rub them.
Sensitive eyes, or reacted to lash glue before? Book a free patch test first.
Piercing
Piercings are quick, but aftercare is what makes them heal well. You'll need to fill out a consent form before your piercing.
Ask us about healing timesBefore your piercing
- Eat a light meal and drink water beforehand to help avoid dizziness.
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before.
- Taking blood thinners or other medication? Check with your doctor before booking.
- Get saline solution ready for your aftercare.
Aftercare
- Wash your hands before touching your piercing.
- Clean it with saline once or twice a day, using a cotton pad or tip.
- Don't twist or play with it, as this slows healing.
- Be gentle. Avoid knocks and try not to sleep on it.
- Leave the jewellery in until it's fully healed.
- Watch for infection. A little redness and swelling is normal. If redness spreads, or you notice heat, pus or a fever, see a doctor.
Under 16? Ask us about our age and parent or guardian consent requirements before booking.
